The Power of Notebooks and Thank You Notes
Posted on March 20, 2014
The next time you are feeling overwhelmed with work, go buy a new notebook at the grocery store and see if it gives you the feeling of a “fresh start”.
I always say that notebooks change lives. If I’m ever feeling down or like I’m in total chaos at work, I get a brand new shiny notebook. Thank you notes are my other power tool. Always have a stack on hand and constantly ask yourself, “who should I be writing a note to?” I spoke at several schools over the past week – feels like I’ve been gone forever! As soon as I get home, my first task will be to write thank you notes to all of the people I’ve met at the schools who have graciously organized my visit.
A new notebook always makes me feel like I can start over. It is truly a new page to start again, and it helps me get my thoughts together to conquer the next project I have in mind.
I recently became obsessed with notebooks! Ever since I came to college, I acquired the habit of writing everything down. Yes, we have reminders on our phones, but I think the old fashion way of relying on the pen and paper is the way to go. It not only lets me feel organized, but really keeps me motivated and excited for a new day!
I go crazy for new notebooks! I can spend forever shopping for the right notebook! Thank you cards as well. I've been complimented more than once by an employer for sending a thank you note. It really makes a big difference!
I totally agree and absolutely love Target notebooks! I like the idea of starting "fresh" with a new notebook. Sometimes I get overwhelmed and starting in a blank notebook might be a great idea to kick-start my creativity.
In order to stay organized I NEED to hand write everything...love this idea of starting "fresh" with a new notebook.
I completely agree with this! I've always written thank you notes to employers and it's something my mom told me will never be disregarded! I like the idea of always keeping notebooks as well. I think I could really benefit from having a notebook where I can always keep my new ideas and thoughts!
Currently writing thank you notes to a few professionals who helped me this week. Like you Lauren, I've become a big fan of the hand written thank you note!
Thank you notes are SO key! I love sending them—it makes me feel more connected to who I'm writing to.
