5 Tips for Going Back to Work After a Long Weekend!

Posted on July 5, 2016

Going back to work after a long weekend is always a difficult task. Last Friday, before we signed off for the weekend, we talked about how to be productive on half-days at work. I think it’s only fair that we also talk about how to get back into the swing of things after a long weekend. Here are some ways to get things going after a short break:

Make a to do list-  I think it is very important to keep things organized. Coming back from a long weekend might mean that you have a few emails to get through and things to get caught up on after the short day on Friday.

Prioritize-  Let’s be honest; going back to work after a long weekend is not easy. I’m sure things will start to stack up on your todo list very quickly. Prioritizing is key if you want to make your first day back in the office a success.

Listen to music-  I know it’s going to take a while to get back into the groove of things but listening to all your favorite “focus” music while you work can help you get into the right mood to be productive.

Get back to your normal schedule- The faster you get things “back to normal,” the smoother your week will go! I know that going to the gym might be the last thing on your mind after a long day of work, but if that is a part of your typical schedule, getting back to it as soon as possible is the best thing you can do.

Set goals- Finally, it’s very  important to set goals for the week. Remember, this week you will only have 4 days to complete tasks that you would normally complete in 5 days. Set a few goals (both professionally and personally). This will help you feel accomplished at the end of the week.

I hope some of my tips helped motivate you to get back to work after the long weekend! Have a great and productive short week!
